Schlein calls Sala: "Closeness and solidarity"

Elly Schlein called the mayor of Milan, Beppe Sala , to express her solidarity and support. The mayor is under investigation by the Milan prosecutor's office for false statements regarding his own or other people's qualifications and undue inducement to give or promise benefits, as part of a new major investigation into urban planning in the city . Prosecutors are requesting house arrest or prison terms for six suspects. Among them is the councilor for Urban Regeneration, Giancarlo Tancredi .

The Milanese Democratic Party, in a note from secretary Alessandro Capelli , commented: "We continue to support the work that Mayor Sala and the entire administration will have to do over the next two years."

"In full respect of the work of the judiciary, we confidently await the developments, including what we learned from the newspapers regarding the mayor," he continued. "It's also important for us to fully understand the precise details of the entire affair. We are confident that every individual decision will be made to protect themselves and the Milanese center-left."
